Recycle your Coffee pods!

Recycle your Coffee pods!

Nottingham coffee lovers help local charity Playworks raise over £240 – simply by recycling their coffee packaging waste Nottingham’s leading play charity, PlayWorks, signed up as one of the UK’s first public collection points for the Tassimo Brigade® earlier in the year – giving Nottingham’s coffee lovers the chance to recycle their Tassimo coffee machine T-DISCS and outer foil packaging, whilst raising funds for PlayWorks. Since then, the scheme has helped to recycle over 12,000 T-DISCS and raise over £240 for PlayWorks. Now, the charity is urging even more people to drop off their coffee packaging waste at Playworks, to help the charity raise even more money. PlayWorks earns two TerraCycle points for the weight of each piece of recycling it sends for recycling, with each point being worth a penny. The money raised by the scheme is helping PlayWorks fund its work with children, young people and families across Nottinghamshire, including free park play sessions in local parks and communities and training. You can drop off your accepted Tassimo coffee waste to the public access collection box at PlayWorks, Alfred Street North, Nottingham, NG3 1AE Monday to Friday from 10am to 5pm and on the first and third Saturday of every month from 10am to 4pm. The Tassimo T-DISCS and outer foil packaging waste are recycled into generic plastic products such as park benches, watering cans and waste bins, reusing resources that would otherwise be lost to landfill. PlayWorks’ Trustee, Graham Masters, said: “We’re delighted that the scheme is helping to recycle coffee packaging waste whilst raising much needed funds for our work with children and young people in the city. Now we want to make sure even more people are aware of the facility, and encourage them to drop their coffee packaging waste off at PlayWorks. It’s a simple thing to do, but it could make a big difference to children, young people and families in the area.” PlayWorks provides a range of Play activities for children, young people and families in Nottinghamshire, including free play sessions in local parks and communities. It’s home to a huge ScrapStore too, brimming with recycled arts and crafts materials and an affordable Art Shop. The charity also provides training, advice, information and resources to schools, nurseries, clubs, professionals, volunteers and community groups.
