Why Play Out?

Outdoor Play sessions help neighbours get to know each other and give children the space and freedom to be more active, gain skils and independence, make friends and have fun!

How does it work?

You can apply for a temporary road closure to close your street to traffic and open it for Play. Volunteer stewards help out throughout the session to ensure safety, so chidren can Play safely outside.

How can PlayWorks help?

PlayWorks are here to support you to close Nottingham’s streets for Playing Out sessions. We can help you talk to your neighbours, resolve issues and help out at your Playing Out session by delivering Play activities on the day.

Check out our Facebook launch event  to get an idea of what a Playing Out sesison could look like in your neighbourhood.

Like the idea but have some concerns?

We understand that opening up your street for Play may not be everyone's cup of tea so take a look at possible concerns and FAQs from Playing Out, a national not for profit orgiansation who have loads of experience and advice to help.

PlayWorks has teamed up with several other groups including Nottingham City Council and Nottingham Together to offer support and advice to help you and your neighbours to bring back the tradition of Playing Out to Nottingham.  If you have any questions you can contact us anytime at playingoutnottingham@playworks.org.uk
